What to expect before you enquire

See the likely scope, inputs, timing and fee basis at a glance. We confirm the exact requirements after reviewing your facts.

Best for

Businesses that need a managed virtual server for a website, application, or other approved workload without maintaining the operating environment alone.

What HKBSCL handles
Requirements review, server and infrastructure-option selection, agreed deployment and hardening, monitoring, routine maintenance, documentation, and support within the written scope.
Timing
Design and deployment timing are confirmed after the workload, hosting location, migration needs, infrastructure availability, and access model are reviewed.
Fee basis
Tailored quotation; there are no fixed specifications or published prices. Hosting usage, software licensing, third-party services, migration, backups, and work outside the agreed scope may be separate. The initial scope review is free. We aim to issue a written quotation within two business days after receiving the required information.
What you receive
A configured virtual server, the agreed access arrangement, configuration records, and the management and handover deliverables stated in the quotation.
What you prepare
Workload details, expected traffic and storage, preferred Region, security and availability needs, authorised users, domains, migration material, and account-ownership requirements.
Who makes the final decision
You approve the server, hosting location, account-ownership model, management boundaries, backup and recovery requirements, and ongoing charges. The infrastructure provider controls its service availability, capacity, quotas, and supported locations.

Your next step

Send the workload, preferred operating system, expected traffic and storage, required hosting location, migration position, security needs, and support expectations for an initial fit check and quotation.

A managed VPS scoped around your workload

We configure and operate the agreed virtual server components so your team has a clear service scope, named access arrangements, and a practical support route.

Server Setup & Hardening

Provision the agreed operating system, network rules, user access, encryption settings, and baseline security controls.

Routine System Maintenance

Apply agreed operating-system updates and perform routine administration within the documented maintenance scope and window.

Monitoring & Operational Support

Monitor the agreed server indicators and respond to service requests or alerts within the confirmed support coverage.

Documentation & Handover

Record the agreed configuration, access ownership, management responsibilities, and exit handover process.

Four workload profiles

Choose a profile by workload. These are conservative planning baselines, not fixed plans or guaranteed capacity; the final configuration and management scope follow a technical review.

Tailored quotation

Basic VPS

For lightweight internal tools, staging environments, low-traffic applications, or a small managed service.

Suggested starting specification

2 shared vCPU · 2 GB RAM · 60 GB SSD · 1.5 TB monthly transfer*

  • Linux server with static IP, baseline firewall, and resource monitoring.
  • Routine operating-system maintenance and agreed administrator access.
  • Application panel, migration, and backup scope added only when quoted.

Not intended for shared file storage, production business email, or sustained CPU-heavy workloads.

Tailored quotation

Web Hosting

For business websites, content management systems, and modest production web applications.

Suggested starting specification

2 shared vCPU · 4 GB RAM · 80 GB SSD · 2 TB monthly transfer*

  • Managed web stack, database, domain binding, and TLS certificate setup.
  • Static IP, firewall rules, resource monitoring, and agreed maintenance.
  • Website migration, deployment, and application support scoped separately.

High traffic, ecommerce, large databases, or sustained background jobs require a separate capacity review.

Tailored quotation

File Hosting

For controlled team file access, sharing, synchronisation, and browser or desktop access.

Suggested starting specification

2 shared vCPU · 8 GB RAM · 160 GB system SSD · 2.5 TB monthly transfer*

  • Private file portal, authorised users, access roles, and encrypted transfer.
  • Separate data storage sized to the required usable capacity and growth.
  • File versions, retention, independent backups, and restore testing quoted separately.

Usable file capacity is not the same as system-disk size; applications, versions, temporary files, and backups need additional space.

Tailored quotation

Email Hosting

For a single-purpose business mail environment where mailbox control and managed operations are required.

Suggested starting specification

4 shared vCPU · 16 GB RAM · 320 GB system SSD · 3 TB monthly transfer*

  • Single-purpose mail VPS with SMTP, IMAP, webmail, spam filtering, and malware scanning where scoped.
  • TLS plus sender-domain records, reputation monitoring, and abuse controls.
  • Static addressing, reverse DNS, and outbound relay or sending approval confirmed before launch.

Mailbox count, storage, retention, sending volume, provider approval, and deliverability are assessed before acceptance; delivery is not guaranteed.

* Transfer figures are current Hong Kong planning references and can vary by hosting location. CPU is shared and burstable. Final resources, usable storage, software licences, support hours, backups, transfer allowance, and third-party charges are confirmed in the written quotation.

Virtual server configuration matched to your needs

We select available virtual resources, hosting location, and supported infrastructure options after reviewing the workload, security, availability, and budget requirements.

Right-Sized Virtual Resources

Select available operating system, processing, memory, SSD storage, and data-transfer capacity according to the workload; no fixed specification is assumed before review.

Hosting Location Selected by Need

Hong Kong or another supported location is chosen according to latency, workload, data-location, service availability, and business requirements.

Managed Infrastructure Options

Static IP, firewall rules, snapshots, monitoring, and alerts can be configured as agreed; supported load balancing, managed database, or content-delivery options may also be included where expressly scoped.

HKBSCL provides the managed-service layer using suitable third-party hosting infrastructure. Resource availability, capacity, account eligibility, quotas, locations, features, and provider terms apply and are confirmed for each quotation.

Know the boundaries before launch

The quotation and service schedule define what is managed, who controls the account, and what happens when the service changes or ends.

  • Hosting-account ownership, billing responsibility, administrator access, and authorised users are agreed in writing.
  • Operating system, application, security, monitoring, incident response, support hours, and exclusions are listed in the management scope.
  • Snapshots are point-in-time platform copies, not a standalone backup service or a recovery-time or recovery-point guarantee; backup, restore testing, RTO, and RPO require a separate written scope.
  • Exit handover, credential transfer, data export, access expiry, deletion timing, migration assistance, and any related charges are agreed in writing.

Usage and third-party charges

Hosting usage, data transfer, storage, snapshots or backups, public IP addresses, support plans, software licences, third-party services, and applicable taxes may be charged separately unless the quotation expressly includes them. Actual provider charges and availability can change.

Common questions

The platform, server size, management scope, and charges are confirmed only after the workload is reviewed.

Is this a physical dedicated server?+

No. It is a virtual private server running on shared cloud infrastructure with allocated virtual resources. A physical bare-metal or dedicated-host requirement would need a different assessment and quotation.

How is the server configuration selected?+

We review the operating system, processing, memory, storage, traffic, network, security, location, and availability requirements before proposing a configuration. The final resources, options, and management scope are stated in the quotation.

Can the VPS be hosted in Hong Kong?+

Hong Kong can be selected where the required infrastructure, capacity, account access, and location are available. Another supported location may be more suitable for latency, data-location, resilience, cost, or feature reasons.

Are backups and guaranteed recovery included?+

Not automatically. Snapshots alone are not an independent backup strategy and do not create a recovery SLA. Backup frequency, retention, separate-copy requirements, restore testing, and any RTO or RPO are included only when stated in the written scope.

What happens if the workload outgrows the agreed server or the service ends?+

We reassess the requirements and agree a documented change, migration, or exit plan; we do not silently change the platform or service scope. Account ownership, billing access, credentials, administrator rights, data export, transfer assistance, access expiry, and deletion arrangements follow the written service schedule.

Need a managed cloud server?

Tell us the workload, expected traffic, preferred hosting location, security needs, migration position, and support expectations. We will recommend a suitable managed VPS configuration and provide a tailored quotation.
