2027 Chinese New Year Fair Stall Auctions: What Traders Can Assess Before Attending
FEHD will auction 2027 Chinese New Year fair stalls from 7 October 2026. Fourteen fairs run 31 January to 6 February 2027. Stalls are not yet allocated.
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced on 22 September 2026 that stalls at the 2027 Chinese New Year fairs will be put up for open auction in batches from 7 October 2026. This is an announcement of auction arrangements only. The stalls have not yet been allocated, and publication of an auction date does not mean a trader has obtained, reserved or been offered a stall.
Operating window and stall supply
The fairs will be held at 14 locations and will be open for seven days from 31 January to 6 February 2027. FEHD says it will provide:
- 939 wet goods stalls
- 599 dry goods stalls
- 26 fast food stalls
Across all venues, the stated upset-price ranges are:
- wet goods: HK$380 to HK$6,530
- dry goods, regular size: HK$450 to HK$8,540
- dry goods, large size: HK$680 to HK$12,810
- fast food: HK$2,290 to HK$120,470
These are opening or upset prices published for the auctions, not closing bids, estimated profits or a forecast of what a stall will cost.
Six Hong Kong Island, Islands and Kowloon fairs
Six fairs in these districts will offer 785 stalls in total:
- Victoria Park, Causeway Bay: 7–9 October 2026. On 7–8 October, sessions run from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm until completion. On 9 October, the session runs from 9:00 am until completion.

The Victoria Park auction will be held at the Assembly Hall, 2/F, Lai Chi Kok Government Offices, 19 Lai Wan Road, Lai Chi Kok. FEHD says the other auctions in this group will be held at the same venue. For Victoria Park, 7 October is scheduled for fast food and wet goods stalls, while 8 and 9 October are scheduled for dry goods stalls. Because seating is limited, FEHD invites people interested in a specific Victoria Park stall type to attend on the designated date.

The eight New Territories fairs will provide 539 wet goods stalls, 232 dry goods stalls and eight fast food stalls:
- Sha Tsui Road Playground, Tsuen Wan: 20 October 2026, with morning and afternoon sessions.

What prospective traders can assess before deciding whether to attend
A business considering a fair stall can use the announcement to compare, before deciding whether attendance is worth its time and budget:
- Location and expected customer catchment.
- Stall type: wet goods, regular or large dry goods, or fast food.
- The published upset price as a starting point, not a final cost.
- Auction date and whether the relevant session is a morning session, an afternoon session, or a single session from 9:00 am until completion.
- The seven-day operating period from 31 January to 6 February 2027, plus any setup period stated in the official materials.
- Staffing, stock, transport, insurance and cash-flow needs against a realistic budget.
This comparison is a planning filter only. It is not a bidding method, a prediction of demand, or confirmation that a particular stall will be available to a particular trader.
Status: auction scheduled, not yet allocated
As at the 22 September 2026 announcement, FEHD has announced open-auction arrangements. It has not allocated the stalls. A listed venue, stall-number range or upset price does not create a right to operate. Any later allocation would depend on the auction outcome and on compliance with the licence agreement and official rules, which are outside the scope of this article.
FEHD says details such as the public notice, venue locations and layouts, commodities allowed for sale, open-auction arrangements, related rules and a sample licence agreement are available on the FEHD website. Enquiries can be directed to the FEHD hotline on 2868 0000.
